Sierra Service Center
My Subaru Forester locked the shift gear in park after my brake light switch malfunctioned. I was able to get my vehicle out of park and down to Sierra Service Center, where I dealt with Ernie, who provided exemplary service. He was transparent about the process of performing a diagnostic check of the vehicle and the cost associated with this check. When his crew was unable to find the specific problem with my vehicle, he recommended driving it to the Subaru Dealership in Tucson, and much to my pleasant surprise, he did not charge me for the diagnostic check because he was unable to find the problem due to the Subaru electronics system. I will 100% go to Ernie and the Sierra Service Center for oil changes and any future issues that may arise with my vehicle.
Thanks for your comments, David. Once in awhile we get vehicles with proprietary electronic code sources and need to defer to the dealer who has very specifice diagnostic capabilities where manufacturers have not released their information to third parties. While there is a lobby trying to level the playing field it will take awhile before independent repair facilities have access to this information. We are pleased you got your issues taken care of and very much look forward to servicing your Subaru in the future for your routine maintenance requirements. Jimmy and the Sierra Service Center team.
